Bio
Blue Stoplights began in 2016 as a recording project between childhood friends Robby and Conor. Inspired by artists like Pinegrove and Emperor X—whose song "Go-Captain and Pinlighter" gave Blue Stoplights its name—they began recording and self-producing albums in Robby's basement during breaks from college. Dean joined the band after he and Robby met in college and quickly bonded through music. The pandemic and differing career paths slowed the band's output for a few years until they released the long-gestating album Bouquet in 2023, which was principally recorded in 2019. After their return to recorded output, Blue Stoplights was reborn in earnest in 2024 when Conor moved to Chicago and they began writing and recording with Christian, another childhood friend and longtime confidant of the project. 2025 saw the band introduce themselves to the Chicago music scene, playing shows at venues around the city. During this time, the lineup expanded to include Tommy and Josiah, firmly cementing a new era for the group. While they embed themselves deeper in the local scene, Blue Stoplights is hard at work on new material, recording a new album comprised of songs from the past half decade.
